PHNOM PENH: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed strong interest in promoting cooperation with Cambodia on social infrastructure development projects, particularly in the modern education sector.

During a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Tianjin, China this afternoon, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit 2025, H.E. Jin Liqun, Chair of the Board of Directors and President of the AIIB, said the Bank is pleased to continue supporting Cambodia through key projects.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the AIIB’s interest in exploring further cooperation opportunities in Cambodia, while reaffirming that hard infrastructure remains a national priority. He underscored the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts in this sector, citing the construction of the new international airport and the Funan Techo Canal project, both designed to drive industrial and logistics development.

“The main priority of the Royal Government, from previous mandates until now, has been to build quality human capital. In this regard, the Royal Government has launched policies to reform the education system from primary to high school, expand vocational training programmes, and strengthen health infrastructure at all levels, especially grassroots service delivery,” he said.

He further stressed that developing human capital with clear professional skills is a long-term investment essential to meeting the demands of current and future industrial growth.

The Prime Minister encouraged AIIB to continue working closely with the relevant ministries and institutions to expand practical cooperation in Cambodia.

Earlier today, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also met with H.E. Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). On the occasion, both sides expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of cooperation between Cambodia and China across all fields.

PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has outlined two key principles to guide the future development of Phnom Penh. This said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of twin flyovers at the intersection between Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd. and the National Road No. 2, at the border between Phnom Penh capital and Kandal province yesterday.

The first principle focuses on proactive planning, anticipating the city’s needs before they arise. This aligns with the Phnom Penh Master Plan on Land Use 2035, ensuring all development adheres to this long-term vision.

Secondly, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of adapting construction projects to Cambodia’s evolving economic and social landscape. This ensures the city remains functional and meets the changing needs of its residents.

PM Hun Manet also urged the Phnom Penh administration to embrace modern technologies. He highlighted the use of security cameras, solar lights, and automatic irrigation systems in public parks as examples. These advancements contribute to a more attractive, luxurious, and “smart” city, aligning with ASEAN’s vision.

Environmental concerns were addressed as well. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of increasing green spaces to combat rising temperatures and greenhouse gases.

He also emphasized the need for better drainage and flood prevention infrastructure to safeguard Phnom Penh from flooding and increase its resilience to climate change.

Finally, acknowledging the growing number of vehicles in the city, PM Hun Manet encouraged private companies to invest in modern car parking solutions to address this pressing issue.

The post PM Hun Manet Outlines Sustainable Urban Development Plans first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

“There are a total of 239 booths displaying more than 1,000 types of construction industry-related products and some 50 types of construction-related services,” he said at the opening ceremony of the expo.

The expo is aimed to seek markets for construction materials, equipment, and machinery, establish partnerships, review past activities, set goals, network, and share experiences, especially give more choices to customers, he said.

H.E. Phara Mongkol, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction said the event was a venue for companies to showcase their products and to seek business partners.

“The expo shows the current situation of the Cambodian construction sector and the richness of construction materials and services, both domestic and import, for use in construction and this contributes to boosting the construction sector in Cambodia,” he underlined.

A report from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction shows that permits for 2,036 construction projects have been issued in the first seven months of this year, covering some eight million square meters.

The registered construction projects were estimated to have a value of US$2.97 billion, the source said.

The post Construction industry expo attracts more than 100 foreign exhibitors first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: On April 25, 2023, Mr. Sorn Seap, the President of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association and Executive Management Team, had a meeting with Oknha Charles Vann, the Acting President of the Cambodia Constructors Association, and his management team at the office of CCA Secretariat.

During the meeting, Mr. Sorn Seap expressed his enthusiasm for the potential partnership between the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association and the Cambodia Constructors Association. He stressed that both associations have a significant role to play in the development of the real estate industry in Cambodia and that they should work together to ensure that the sector continues to prosper.

Mr. Seap also highlighted some of the critical challenges facing the industry, such as the need for greater investment in infrastructure and the need to attract more foreign investment. He suggested that by working together, the associations could enhance their collective bargaining power and become more effective advocates for the industry.

Oknha Charles Vann, the Acting President of the Cambodia Constructors Association, echoed Mr. Seap’s sentiments and expressed his eagerness to explore potential areas of collaboration between the two associations. He recognized that the expertise of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association would be invaluable in helping his organization to navigate the complex dynamics of the real estate market.

After a productive discussion, the two sides agreed to explore ways in which they could collaborate on projects such as promoting sustainable real estate development, providing affordable housing, and developing new technologies to improve the industry’s efficiency. They also agreed to consult each other on relevant policy matters and to coordinate their activities where possible.
