Construction industry expo attracts more than 100 foreign exhibitors

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodia-International Construction Industry Expo 2023, the largest annual event of its kind in the country, kicked off here on Dec. 6, attracting more than a hundred foreign exhibitors.

Held at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh, the three-day expo brought together 133 companies from countries across the world, said Oknha Pung Kheav Se, Chairman of Cambodia Constructors Association, the expo's organizer.

“There are a total of 239 booths displaying more than 1,000 types of construction industry-related products and some 50 types of construction-related services,” he said at the opening ceremony of the expo.

The expo is aimed to seek markets for construction materials, equipment, and machinery, establish partnerships, review past activities, set goals, network, and share experiences, especially give more choices to customers, he said.

H.E. Phara Mongkol, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Land Management, and Construction said the event was a venue for companies to showcase their products and to seek business partners.

“The expo shows the current situation of the Cambodian and the richness of construction materials and services, both domestic and import, for use in construction and this contributes to boosting the construction sector in Cambodia,” he underlined.

A report from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction shows that permits for 2,036 construction projects have been issued in the first seven months of this year, covering some eight million square meters.

The registered construction projects were estimated to have a value of US$2.97 billion, the source said.
