PHNOM PENH: Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport or Siem Reap Airport has been listed as one of the Top 20 highest Wi-Fi ratings among airports worldwide in 2024, with scores out of 5.

According to Skytrax Airline Customer Reviews, the Siem Reap Airport of Cambodia was ranked 19th with a score of 3.50, just behind Canada’s Vancouver Airport and before the United Kingdom’s Glasglow Prestwick with the ratings of 3.54 and 3.50, respectively.

” […] This recognition reflects the efforts of Siem Reap Airport to enhance its Wi-Fi infrastructure and provide travellers with enhanced connectivity options while passing through the airport,” said Seasia online source.

Airports of two other Southeast Asian countries – Hanoi Airport of Vietnam and Changi Airport of Singapore – also stood on the list with the 6th and 8th positions in the global rankings, respectively.

“The inclusion of Hanoi Airport, Changi Airport, and Siem Reap Airport in the list of top global airports with the best Wi-Fi connectivity underscores the region’s commitment to delivering exceptional passenger experiences and staying at the forefront of technological advancements in airport services. As airports continue to prioritise digital connectivity, travellers can expect seamless Wi-Fi experiences that enrich their journeys and ensure smooth transitions between destinations,” Seasia underlined.

Ljubljana Airport of Slovenia topped the list with a rating of 4.46, followed by Hong Kong Airport of China’s Hong Kong Special Administration Region, which gained a score of 4.25, and Helsinki Vantaa Airport of Finland with 4.24.

PHNOM PENH: The Royal Government has planned to upgrade the National Road (NR) 6 from the T-junction of the highway from Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) in Siem Reap to the provincial city with a distance of nearly 20 kilometers at an estimated cost of US$60 million.

The plan was mentioned this morning by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet while presiding over the SAI’s official inauguration ceremony.

It is not strange for an airport to be located far from the city, he said, adding that the most important thing is the connection from the airport to the city. In this regard, he thanked the airport investment company for not only investing in the construction of the airport but also in the construction of a highway from the airport to NR6.

Besides road expansion, the Premier continued, the Royal Government is negotiating for the development of a lightweight train from the newly inaugurated airport to the provincial city.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that this connection is very important to reduce costs and time for the travel between the two above-said destinations.

The post Government to expand road from new Siem Reap airport to provincial city first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

PHNOM PENH: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that the newly-commenced Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) will contribute to tourism and socio-economic development in Cambodia.

The airport started its commercial operation on Oct. 16 with daily 34 flight movements, according to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

“This new opportunity will become a strong and important potential for tourism in Siem Reap province as well as in the country as a whole. This will attract investors as well as provide local economic benefits for the people,” Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said on Oct. 31 on his Telegram channel.

Covering an area of 700 hectares in Tayek commune of Sotr Nikum district, about 50 kilometers from Siem Reap provincial city, the SAI has been invested by the Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., an affiliate of China’s Yunnan Investment Holdings Ltd. with a total investment of US$1.1 billion.

As a 4E-level international airport that can accommodate long-distance flights from across the globe with a 3,600-meter runway and 38 berths, SAI is able to manage seven million passengers annually and is expected to increase its capacity to a staggering 12 million passengers a year from 2040.

Cambodia’s famed Angkor Archaeological Park sold entrance passes to 539,561 foreign tourists in the first nine months of this year, earning US$24.95 million, an increase of 365 percent compared to the same period last year.

In a recent meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, Zhaoyuan Lin, CEO of Yuexiu Group, said that the company was interested in a number of sectors in Cambodia, including transport infrastructure, real estate, and agro-industry.

He added that the company had decided to hold an internal dialogue after the meeting to discuss and study the possibility of investing in Cambodia within any framework.

Cambodia has a number of factors that make it an attractive investment destination, including peace, macroeconomic stability, a favorable investment law, and open trade agreements with the People’s Republic of China and many other partner countries.

The country also has a nationwide infrastructure network that is developing, including the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, the new Siem Reap Airport, the opening of the new Phnom Penh Airport, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Railway, the Phnom Penh-Phnom Penh Railway, and deep water port expansion project.

Yuexiu Group has experience in investing in major sectors such as hotels, commercial buildings, residential buildings, banking, transport infrastructure, and agro-industry.

PHNOM PENH: Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport has successfully completed an airport flight demonstration for non-commercial flights and is set to be officially launched in mid-October.

The final airport flight demonstration was held on Oct. 5 under the inspection from H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation with the participation of relevant officials and airports and airline representatives.

According to a press release issued this afternoon, three airlines joined the test – Sky Angkor Airlines from Phnom Penh International Airport, Cambodia Airways flying from Sihanoukville International Airport, and China Eastern Airlines from China’s Kunming International Airport.

“The non-commercial flight demonstration of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport was smooth and successful,” the press release said.

The demonstration is aimed to ensure that Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is technically qualified and provides ground services in accordance with international standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the regulations of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation before starting to handle many national and international commercial flights from Oct. 16, 2023, onward, it added.

“This Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is a new infrastructure achievement that will contribute to the strengthening and expansion of air and passenger services from Cambodia to remote and regional areas with medium and large aircraft such as Airbus 350, Airbus 330, or Boeing 787-900,” said H.E. Mao Havannall.

The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport is located in Tayek commune, Sotr Nikum district, about 51 kilometers from Siem Reap provincial city and 40 kilometers from Angkor Wat Temple.

The new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport will have 38 berths and will be able to handle 7 million air passengers a year in the first phase, and the complete infrastructure will allow the capacity to serve 20 million passengers annually from 2040.

Additionally, the airport can handle 10,000 tonnes of air cargo per year from 2023 and 26,000 tonnes from 2040 and can handle 65,800 flights per year from 2023 to 112,700 flights annually from 2040.

Construction of Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport began in March 2020 with an investment of approximately US$1.1 billion.

The post Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport successfully completes airport flight demonstration first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.

The airport is being developed by Angkor International Airport Investment (AIAI), a joint venture between three Chinese companies: Yunnan Investment Company, Yunnan Construction Company, and Yunnan Airport Operations Management Company. AIAI has a contract concession to operate the airport.

Once the new airport is open, the old Siem Reap International Airport will be converted into an international conference and exhibition hall. This proposal was made by Minister of Tourism Thong Khon to Prime Minister Hun Sen recently.

The opening of the new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport is a significant milestone for Cambodia’s tourism industry. The airport is expected to boost tourism arrivals and help the country achieve its goal of becoming a regional aviation hub.

PHNOM PENH: After a long hiatus, Cambodia Angkor Air will resume flights from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville and Da Nang in Vietnam in early July, reuniting tourists from the three regions. Two years with a Covid-19 outbreak.

Flights between Siem Reap and Da Nang, Vietnam, will resume on July 1, 2022, with the first flight, K6840, departing at 15:35 and taking 2 hours to reach Da Nang province. During the reopening, the airline will operate three flights per week, increasing to five flights per week in September 2022 and continuing to fly every day shortly.

According to Mr. Luu Minh Chung, General Director of Cambodia Angkor Air, Cambodia Angkor Air is the country’s only national airline to have received International Security Assistance (IOSA) certification. We are delighted to serve as a link between Cambodia and Vietnam in terms of cultural, economic, and tourism exchanges.

Currently, the company is proud to provide a wide range of services between the two countries with more than 30 flights per week, from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang from Sihanoukville. To Ho Chi Minh City.

The flight between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville will begin on July 2, with the first flight of the K6131 departing from Siem Reap at 15:10 for a one-hour journey to Sihanoukville. The resumption of flights is critical for the two provinces’ economic cooperation and tourism development.

Currently, only Angkor Air provides domestic air transport services, with daily flights between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap beginning in February 2022. There are three flights per week between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

Mr. Luu Minh Chung stated that the company plans to increase the number of flights on these two routes, particularly daily flights between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, which will fly in August 2022.

The post Cambodia Angkor Air to resume two flights first appeared on Estatedia | Economy & Real Estate Media in Cambodia.
