Cambodian Premier: Siem Reap Angkor International Airport will be a strong potential for Cambodia’s tourism sector
PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet said that the presence of the new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport will be a strong potential for Cambodia’s tourism sector.
The Cambodian Prime Minister wrote on his social media post on the morning of October 31, 2023, that the facility offered a new opportunity that would create the potential for the tourism sector in the province of Siem Reap in particular and for the whole of the nation in general. It will also appeal to investors and provide economic advantages to local people, stressed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport was opened on October 16, 2023, It is located in Sot Nikum district, Siem Reap province, on a total area of over 700 hectares about 40 km.
The Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport has a 4E category that enables Boeing 747 and Airbus A340 to land and is expected to accommodate 7 million passengers per year for the short term and 20 million passengers a year for the long term.
The construction of the Siem Reap International Airport is a long-term initiative of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and currently President of the Supreme Privy Council to the King.
The construction was completed in the Royal Government of the 7th legislature under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister.
