Siem Reap new airport project’s budget spent 56 percent

PHNOM PENH: The construction company for the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, which is located in the Sotnikum district of Siem Reap province, has committed to finishing the project on time.

As of February 13, 2023, more than 75% of the total construction work had been completed, with the total budget spent now totaling $620 million dollars, or approximately 56.3% of the planned budget.

Mr. ZOU Yuhui, President of the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport project’s in-charge company, Yunnan Airinvestment (Cambodia) Airport Management Co., Ltd. (YACA), confirmed that the construction to date has completed more than 75% of the total work, with a total construction spent of $ 620 million. He also stated that the total investment project increased from $880 million in 2019 to $1100 million in 2022.

He added that with a strong and clear commitment, the company has also set out a plan for 2023 to complete the construction work and finish by the end of March, and if nothing changes, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) is scheduled to open in October 2023.

The Siem Reap Angkor International Airport is a brand new infrastructure achievement that will accelerate the vision and mission of strengthening and expanding air and passenger services while also providing convenience to both domestic and international tourists. Cambodia plans to connect regional flights and increase direct flights to other markets such as China and the rest of the world in the near future.
