PHNOM PENH: China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC), a state-owned Chinese company, has been authorized by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to conduct an in-depth study on the proposed Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway. This project aimed at improving transportation and tourism between the two urban centers.

On May 10, 2023, Kandal Provincial Authority and CRBC are scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway project through Kandal Province, as per the Ministry of Public Works and Transport's request in their press release on March 24, 2023.

Additionally, the governor and provincial officers on the route have been asked to coordinate with local authorities and relevant units to support CRBC in their study.

The new expressway project will pass through Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, and Siem Reap, as per the notification letter issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to the governors of the five capital provinces.

The Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway Study Project is expected to sign a Framework Agreement in September 2023. The Ministry has urged the companies to complete the memorandum as soon as possible this year.
