Gold refined reaches 6.37 tonnes as Of June

PHNOM PENH: Renaissance Minerals Cambodia Limited, a subsidiary of the Australia-listed Emerald Resources NL, has extracted and refined some 6,727 kilograms of gold ore from its licensed commercial gold mine located in province's Keo Seima district.

“Up to now, the company has refined a total of 6,727.70 kilograms with 90 percent quality, and paid US$10.2 million as royalties,” the Ministry of Mines and Energy said in a report released on Sunday.

The operation of Renaissance Minerals Cambodia Limited has contributed to creating a national budget revenue source and building new national capabilities and models for responsible mining and sustainable development, the ministry underlined.

The achievements of Cambodia's gold mining industry reflect clearly the 's efforts to create a conducive investment environment to attract foreign investment as well as a new industry with environmental and social responsibility according to international standards, it added.

Renaissance started its commercial production in June 2021, becoming the first commercial gold producer in the Kingdom.

It plans to refine an estimated three tonnes of gold ore every year for the first eight years of the mine's operation.
