PHNOM PENH: In the first six months of 2022, the Cambodian government collected a total of 5,249.1 billion Riels in taxes and duties through the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE), approximately 1,292.9 million US dollars, or more than 50.08 percent of the national budget plan.

His Excellency Kun Nhem, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister and Director General Department Customs and Excise (GDCE), stated at a press conference on July 7, 2022, that tax revenue collection is 50.08 percent of the plan reflects import and export activities, while Cambodia has reopened socioeconomic activities, reviving trade, business, and other programs, and increasing demand. Tax revenue collection has also increased in a similar manner.

According to His Excellency Dr. Kun Nhem: “ Tax revenue in the first six months of this year is equal to half of the Ministry of Economy and Finance's revenue collection plan for 2022. “In 2022, revenue collection is expected to increase as the General Department of Customs continues to work hard to fulfill its role and find revenue sources.”

According to the GDCE, the majority of sources of revenue during the January-June period were vehicle tax revenue (43 percent of total revenue) and vehicle tax revenue (nearly 40 percent of total tax revenue).

General Department of Customs and Excise reported more than 9,000 right-sided steering vehicles and illegally imported vehicles had now registered and paid the import duties and taxes as of June 30, 2022. 2,713 vehicles left-hand steering vehicles have been taxed, amounting to nearly $ 35 million. The remaining 7,040 vehicles that must modify from right to left are worth more than $ 41 million.

Cambodia General Department of Customs and Excise collected nearly $ 2.3 billion in 2021 compared to 2020. This revenue is down 5.1 percent.
