Daxing: Beijing’s new airport welcomes 52 million visitors

ASIA: According to data released by Beijing Daxing International, the capital's newest airport, the number of visitors passing through has increased to 52 million in the first three years of operation.

Last Sunday marked the third anniversary of the official opening of Daxing Airport. With a total of 450,000 flights, this can also serve freight services of up to 370,000 tons. The airport currently serves 26 domestic airlines. It has established 266 air routes connecting 185 destinations.

Beijing is the city's second international airport, after Beijing Capital International. Daxing, also known as the Starfish, is located just outside of Beijing, near the border with Hebei Province and it firstly operated on September 26, 2019.

The Daxing Airport project lasted more than four years and required a total investment of $ 17 billion. Other infrastructure projects in the area have a total cost of $46.2 billion.
