Cambodia’s bicycle export earned $278 million in Q1

PHNOM PENH: According to a report from the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday, Cambodia’s bicycle exports reached 278 million US dollars in the first quarter of 2023, displaying an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous year.

Penn Sovicheat, the Undersecretary of State and spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce stated that bicycles produced in Cambodia were shipped to a number of countries, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, and China.

Sovicheat mentioned that biking has become one of Cambodia’s major manufacturing items for export, with clothes, footwear, and travel goods following behind.

Cambodia is ranked as the highest bicycle exporter among the ASEAN nations. All five bike factories in Cambodia are situated in special economic zones in the southeastern city of Bavet, Svay Rieng province.
