PHNOM PENH: On August 15, 2023, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce, H.E. Pan Sosak, met with a delegation from the Thai Chamber of Commerce led by Mr. Voratat Tantimongkolsuk. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss trade and investment opportunities between Cambodia and Thailand.
Minister Sosak said that Cambodia has enjoyed strong economic growth in recent years and has become a popular destination for investors from around the world. He expressed hope that the meeting would help to further strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.
Mr. Tantimongkolsuk said that the Thai Chamber of Commerce is interested in learning more about the potential for trade and investment in Cambodia. He noted that the two countries have a long history of close economic cooperation and that there are many opportunities for businesses to work together.
The delegation also visited Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, Koh Kong Province, and Sihanoukville Province to learn more about the investment climate in Cambodia.
Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Thailand in 2022 was worth more than $4.6 billion. For the first six months of 2023, the bilateral trade volume amounted to more than $1.9 billion.
The meeting between Minister Sosak and the Thai Chamber of Commerce delegation was a positive step towards further strengthening the economic ties between Cambodia and Thailand. The two countries have a lot to offer each other in terms of trade and investment, and the relationship will continue to grow in the years to come.
