Through this Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions aim to collaborate closely to achieve the common goals:

(a) Both entities shall exchange business referrals where IDI will refer to CM2H potential foreign investors looking to apply for its membership program and CM2H will refer to IDI potential investors looking for potential investment projects.

(b) CM2H shall appoint IDI and IDC as advisors to address investment and business inquiries from its members and potential investors.

(c) IDI and CM2H will collectively engage in various business events to promote each other’s services as well as investment and business climate in Cambodia.

The Cambodia My 2nd Home (CM2H) is the only government official program approved and recognized by the Ministry of Interior and General Department of Immigration of the Kingdom of Cambodia to allow foreigners to stay in Cambodia with a Golden Visa of 10 years.

CM2H holders​ can apply for a Cambodia passport after 5 years. This is the only official pathway to apply for a Cambodian passport in Cambodia. The CM2H program is open to all countries recognized by Cambodia with certain investment and financial requirements.

The event started with Dr. Hor Sereyvath’s welcome and opening remarks followed, which also highlighted important notes concerning IDI’s and IDC’s progress.

In addition, H.E. Chea Kok Hong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, also shared the latest updates on the Cambodian and global economy and investment climates as well as encouraged IDI’s members to capture investment opportunities both domestic and overseas markets, particularly investment with relations to growing, processing, trading and exporting of Cambodian products to international markets.

Taking this opportunity, IDI also officially announced new advisors, new members, and a Brand Ambassador who are joining IDI followed by presentations from IDI/ IDC’s members including:

(1) Business plan 2024 presented by Mr. Sok Vatanak, Chief Investment and Business Officer.

(2) “ID Gro Fund” project presented by Mr. Chhoeung Kiriroth, IDI’s member.

(3) Resolving challenges/issues and recommendations made by members during this time.

The meeting also provided opportunities for all members to discuss strategic directions and activities to be implemented in 2024 and encourage all IDI members to participate actively in the new plan to develop IDI and IDC stronger.

In response, all members expressed their commitment to supporting and participating in all activities to develop IDI and IDC for growing together and for the benefit of promoting and developing the investment, economic climate, and society in Cambodia. In his remark, Dr. Sereyvath stated that the upcoming business trip to the United States is another initiative after organizing the seminar on “Food Exports to the United States” in December 2022 and the previous version of the ”Cambodia Business Delegation Visit to the United States” in March 2023, both conducted to provide a platform of communication between buyers and sellers and to increase technical knowledge over basic requirements and export-related requirements as well as standards, production and packaging of food products with the objective of boosting food product exports to the US market.

H.E. Buon Sarak Mony shared appreciation towards IDI’s effort in organizing such a visit and advised the delegation members to seize the opportunity to establish the business network and to introduce their products to the participants, which can lead to the increase of trade between the two countries.

On top of that, His Excellency also urged the delegates to exemplify the investment potentials and investment law of Cambodia, allowing foreign investors to possess 100% equity on top of the ease of remittance of profits made from investments in Cambodia to their home countries.

In collaboration with ID Capital Plc. (IDC), Khmer Enterprise (KE), the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham), and the Cambodia Business Delegation to the United States on November 7th to 13th, 2023, will bring the participants to the Cambodia Business Expo & Trade Conference which is anticipated to be attended by hundreds of Asian business professionals and practitioners from multiple US states as well as industry leaders who will shape the future of their sector.

Additionally, multiple closed-door seminars designed to offer comprehension of the US Customs Clearance and FDA, Food Hygiene, HACCP, GMP, Food Control, and cold chain logistics will be part of the program.

The meeting aimed to unlock the opportunities from existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). It was organized by the Secretary of the “One Stop Shop” Working Group of MoEF, facilitated by EDF, and held at the Office of MoEF. His Excellency Pich Sambath, Under Secretary of State of MoEF, and senior officials from the Office of Taxes, customs, and Excise attended the meeting.

After receiving a green signal from the government, IDI led a study mission to Battambang, Pailin, and Banteay Meanchey provinces on October 21-22, 2023. The mission aimed to identify plans to promote investment in agriculture and agricultural processing into products to supply domestic and foreign markets.

The activities included:

• Meeting with the Governor of Battambang to present the position and action plan
• Studying logan cultivation techniques, related costs, and other consequences in some big plantations
• Learning about the agricultural market
• Visiting agricultural production and processing factories

As a result of the study mission, IDI achieved two investment targets:

• Establishment of an agricultural procurement process to maintain market sustainability and supply
• Study to establish a factory to produce fruit juice and fruit jam with a capital of about 500,000 USD in the first step

IDI’s efforts are commendable in promoting investment in agriculture and agricultural processing in Cambodia. This will help the country to unlock the opportunities from existing FTAs and boost its exports.

(2) Finding an overseas market for Cambodian bird nests, especially in China
(3) Acting as a contact point for investors in the bird nest sector
(4) Education and training for bird nest producers
(5) Establishing cooperation between KSA and IDI to help bird nest operators/producers to be able to raise funds.

KSA has been recognized by the government as an official platform to support the development of the local edible bird nest ecosystem and bolster exports of the woefully untapped commodity, with particular consideration to the Chinese market.
