PHNOM PENH: On September 22, 2023, the US-Cambodia Business Forum was held in New York City, USA. The event was organized by the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce, and the US-ASEAN Business Council Forum, and was presided over by His Excellency Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The forum was attended by over 100 US and Cambodian companies, including Boeing, Chevron, Mastercard, Visa, and Zuellig Pharma.
The purpose of the event was to promote business and investment between the two countries, and especially to highlight Cambodia’s potential sectors and incentive policies to attract more American investors.
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that bilateral trade flows between Cambodia and the United States reached $13.5 billion in 2022 and that the US remains Cambodia’s largest export market.
He also noted that US direct investment in Cambodia has continued to increase, from $225 million in 2010 to $893 million in 2022.
PM Hun Manet also highlighted the recent investments made in Cambodia by US multinational corporations such as Ford, Coca-Cola, Tiffany, and General Electric. These investments, he said, reflect the growth of the Cambodian market and the rising income of the Cambodian people.
The US-Cambodia Business Forum was a successful event that helped to promote business and investment between the two countries. The forum also highlighted Cambodia’s potential as a destination for foreign investment, and its commitment to creating a favorable business environment for American companies.
