PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce this afternoon clarified that the United States’ imposition of tariffs as high as 3,403 percent on Cambodian solar panels is not related to the reciprocal tariffs announced by the U.S. earlier this April.
According to the ministry, the tariffs are the result of an ongoing investigation into anti-dumping and countervailing duties, which target goods suspected of being imported into the U.S. at unfairly low prices or benefiting from government subsidies. The investigation began in April last year.
The ministry also stated that it has been working closely with private sector to address the issue and mitigate potential impacts.
Several Cambodian-based companies have been implicated in the case, including Solarspace, Jintek, Hounen Solar, Solar Long PV-Tech, ISC Cambodia, and others.
