The first Cambodia roundabout-shape flyover on good progress

PHNOM PENH: The construction of Cambodia’s first roundabout-shaped flyover, the Monivong flyover, is well underway, with the company drilling a total of 219 bridge foundations.

According to Mr. Sam Piseth, Director of the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport, the company has just finished drilling and pouring concrete on 25 of 219 bridge foundations, or 11.41%.

He added that the construction site is currently active on the 60-meter road in area N1, 22 foundations have been drilled, and the drilling is being prepared in area N2.

Meanwhile, in the N3 area, the technical team drilled three foundations and waited for the impact to be resolved before proceeding with the work, particularly on Street 271.

The Monivong flyover project aims to improve traffic in Phnom Penh, which has seen an increase in the number of vehicles and traffic year after year.

This flyover was constructed in the territory of Khan Chamkarmon and Khan Meanchey at the intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Blvd., Monivong Blvd., and Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Blvd., dubbed Street 271.

The Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) is in charge of the flyover project, which will cost $ 36,775,000 and take 36 months to complete.

There are currently seven flyovers in Phnom Penh: the Kbal Thnal flyover, the 7 Makara flyover, the Stung Meanchey flyover, the 5 Makara flyover, the Cambodia-China Sen Sok flyover, also known as the Phsar Dei Huy flyover and the Cham Chao flyover, and another project, the National Road 5 flyover, which has been under construction since January 2022 and is nearing completion.
