Techo Takhmao International Airport is now 33% completion

: More than 33% of the Techo Takhmao International was completed between January 7, 2020 and June 14, 2022.

During a visit to the project on June 14, Cambodian Civil Aviation Minister Mao Havannal stated that building has been ongoing for more than two years, despite the COVID-19 crisis. This international airport is still working on the five-star and modern international airport layout, which is currently more than 33% complete.

According to him, the airport for landing 4F large aircraft will be completed in 2024 and operational in early 2025. The Techo Takhmao International Airport is now being built on an area of roughly 2,600 hectares in Kandal Province, near Takeo Province, and around 20 kilometers from Phnom Penh.

He stated that once the Techo Takhmao International Airport is completed, Cambodia will be able to receive a large number of international passenger planes from all over the world to land in Phnom Penh, especially as the number of domestic passengers and international tourists in Cambodia increases in the coming years.

The Techo Takhmao International Airport will be built in three stages. In the first phase, the business has been building a 4 km runway for landing a massive 4F aircraft capable of carrying more than 15 million passengers per year.

The corporation will increase construction in the second phase to accommodate up to 30 million passengers per year by 2050, and the third phase will continue to expand development to accommodate 45 million domestic and international passengers per year beginning in 2050.

According to Charles Van, Deputy General Director of OCIC and President of Cambodia Airport Investment (CAIC), CAIC was approximately 33% complete in the first phase at a cost of 461 million US dollars.

He noted that CAIC is a collaboration between the Royal Government of Cambodia, as represented by the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, and OCIC. CAIC has been authorized by the Royal Government of Cambodia to design, build, finance, and operate the Techo International Airport project in Takhmao City, Kandal Province.
