Techo International Airport Gears Up for July 10 Launch

PHNOM PENH: Techo International Airport (TIA), a sprawling US$1.5 billion aviation hub located approximately 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh, is on schedule to commence operations on July 10, 2025.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) announced the target launch date following a meeting on May 2nd of the Steering Committee overseeing the airport’s operational readiness.

As of April 2025, Phase 1 of the ambitious project has reached 96 percent completion, signaling significant progress towards the highly anticipated opening. The Level 4F airport, designed to accommodate long-haul international flights and large aircraft like the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800, spans a vast 2,600 hectares across Kandal and Takeo provinces.

The Steering Committee, chaired by H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the SSCA, convened to review crucial certification and operational requirements. H.E. Sinn Chanserey Vutha, SSCA Secretary of State and Spokesperson, expressed optimism, stating, “If all goes according to plan, the airport will begin operations on July 10, 2025, welcoming both domestic and international travellers.”

The Techo International Airport is a development spearheaded by Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC), a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), 1 a prominent Cambodian conglomerate.
