Sub-Decree to reduce export taxes on natural stone products signed

PHNOM PENH: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has signed a sub-decree to lower the export on some natural stone products for export in order to ease the burden of exporters and help them compete in the international markets.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said this decision came up after he and his delegation visited Cambodian booths in Nanning, China on the occasion of the 20th ASEAN-China Expo on Sept. 17, 2023.

On the occasion, a woman who represented a natural stone business in Cambodia asked the Royal Government to consider the possibility of providing additional assistance to the natural stone businesses in the Kingdom, he recalled.

In response to the request, as well as to similar requests from others in Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet commissioned H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, to coordinate a meeting between all stakeholders, both public and private.

As a result, a sub-decree was signed today to reduce the export tax rates on some export items in order to ease the burden of natural stone exporters and increase their competitiveness.
