PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of China Huaneng Group and Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., which have contributed to the development of Cambodia, and reiterated the Royal Government’s support to the companies’ business operations as well as encouraged them to continue their investment in Cambodia.
During the meeting with Mr. Wen Shugang, Chairman of China Huaneng Group, which invests in the construction of the Lower Sesan 2 Dam, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet requested the company to bring new technologies to Cambodia, to invest in clean energy development and battery-powered power systems, to examine the possibility of training human resources in the electricity sector, and to conduct studies on other projects.
In response, Mr. Wen Shugang confirmed his company’s commitment to continue introducing new technologies to Cambodia, and to discuss with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions about the possibility of providing technical skills in the field of electricity to Cambodian youths.
In the meeting with Mr. Liang Hua, Chairman of Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., the Cambodian Premier welcomed the company’s investment in new technologies and digital infrastructure development in Cambodia for already 25 years. He also encouraged the company to consider investment opportunities in other areas, such as production of electronic components.
Samdech Thipadei and Mr. Liang Hua also discussed human resource training in digital skills. The Chinese side expressed his interest in the training of this skill from primary to university level, recalling that Huawei Technology Co., Ltd has also partnered with a number of universities in Cambodia on digital human resource training.
A high-level Cambodian delegation led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse arrived in Beijing this afternoon to pay an official visit to China and to attend the 20th ASEAN-China Expo from Sept. 14-17, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart H.E. Li Qiang. AKP
