PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the ambitious Mekong Quay City project in Arey Ksat city, Kandal Province, on December 17, 2024.
Spanning approximately 210 hectares along the Mekong River, opposite the Chatomuk River, Mekong Quay City is set to become a vibrant metropolis. The development will feature a diverse mix of modern commercial buildings, shopping malls, educational institutions, international-standard hotels, and cultural centers.
The Prime Minister highlighted the significant investment in this project as a testament to the burgeoning real estate sector in Cambodia. He emphasized that the development will contribute to the nation’s economic growth by boosting the real estate, investment, trade, and hospitality industries, while also promoting Cambodian culture and tourism.
Infrastructure Connectivity as a Catalyst for Growth
Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored the importance of infrastructure connectivity in driving economic development. He stated that robust infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, is essential for connecting people, economies, and regions.
The Prime Minister pointed to the development of Chroy Changvar and Prek Pnov along the Mekong River’s western bank as an example of the transformative power of infrastructure. He expressed confidence that Arey Ksat, with its strategic location and growing connectivity, will experience similar development.
The Future of Arey Ksat area
With the upcoming completion of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, Prime Minister Hun Manet anticipates a surge in human and economic activity in Arey Ksat. He emphasized the need for well-planned urban development that includes public spaces, sports facilities, and parks.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the Royal Government’s commitment to government strategies which aims to cultivate a peaceful and prosperous Cambodia. He urged continued efforts to preserve peace, as it is the foundation for sustainable development and improved living standards for the Cambodian people.
