Physical infrastructure development remains a priority for Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Physical infrastructure development remains a main priority of the Royal Government of the 7th legislature of the National Assembly, said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei at the inauguration ceremony of a 246.15-kilometer-long portion of National Road (NR) No. 5 from Prek Kdam in Kandal province to Battambang provincial city, held in Kampong Chhnang province yesterday.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said the Royal Government will further build more infrastructure as the blood vessels in the human body.

The Premier also encouraged more improvement of all existing physical infrastructure, including the two rail lines of 650 kilometers constructed during the French colonial era between 1930 and 1940 and reopened in 2018, to further facilitate public transport.

“Building new infrastructure is not an easy project, we need to do many things, including the feasibility study, and more budget, but we will continue to give priority [to infrastructure construction projects],” he underlined.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also mentioned the construction project of NR50C from Kampong Chhnang province to Kampong Thom province.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, for next year, the Royal Government will carry out some infrastructure projects, including the construction of NR50C, the expansion of NR6 from Trapaing Thom to Slar Kram in Siem Reap province, the construction (phase I) of third ring road in the eastern part of along with two bridges, and the construction of NR70B linking NR7 to NR11.
