Over $3 billion poured in Cambodia’s 23 special economic zones

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Industry has issued permits for the establishment of special economic zones in 23 provincial capitals, attracting 390 factories with an estimated $ 3 billion in investment, indicating that Cambodia has made significant progress in the national economy. Heng Sok Kong, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation stated at a press conference on the Ministry’s achievements over the last five years on August 11, 2022, that the establishment of 23 economic zones by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation. There are 390 factories, with over 160,000 factory workers and a $ 3 billion investment.

“We see this as a tremendous success for our country in terms of driving economic growth and creating an appealing special economic zone,” he said. He went on to say that the economic zone’s creation will help to create jobs, encourage more foreign investment, and improve people’s lives. Together with national economic growth.

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation is continuing to focus on the Cambodian Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025 to develop Cambodia’s industrial sector and achieve the country’s goal of becoming an industrialized country by 2025.
