Ministry of Tourism Report: Cambodia Welcomes 2.4M Foreign Tourists, 13.6% Increase

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia saw a significant boost in foreign tourist arrivals during the first four months of 2025, welcoming approximately 2.4 million visitors. This marks a 13.6% increase compared to the same period last year, according to a June 5 report from the Ministry of Tourism.

Thailand led the way as the top source market with 674,134 visitors, a 14.6% increase. Vietnam followed with 410,424 visitors, and China was third with 387,505.

Around 42% of international tourists arrived by air, with the rest entering via land and waterways. Tourism is one of Cambodia’s four main economic pillars, alongside garment exports, agriculture, and real estate/construction.

H.E. Ms. Hun Dany, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism, emphasized that peace and political stability are crucial for tourism growth. She also highlighted the combined efforts of the Royal Government and the private sector in promoting Cambodia’s tourism potential, along with improved airport facilities, as key contributors to the increased arrivals.

The Ministry of Tourism projects that Cambodia could receive up to 7.5 million international tourists in 2025. In 2024, the country attracted roughly 6.7 million foreign visitors, generating US$3.63 billion in revenue and contributing around 9.4% to the national GDP.

The report also noted a slight increase in Cambodian outbound tourism, which rose by 0.7% over the same four-month period, totaling 587,041 travelers.
