Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge to be reopened for temporary use

PHNOM PENH: The Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge will be reopened for temporary use from today, at 6:00 a.m., to reduce traffic congestion at the construction site of the Preah Monivong flyover.

The good news was announced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Public Works and Transport yesterday.

The connecting Koh Pich satellite city to the Koh Norea development area in Phnom Penh's Khan Chbar Ampov was opened temporarily during the Pchum Ben holiday last week to facilitate the people's travels.

The almost-completed-construction bridge, broken ground in October 2020 at a total cost of $38 million by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a private firm investing wholly in Koh Norea Development Area, is scheduled for official inauguration in November 2023.

Once in operation, the 824-meter-long-and-24.5-meter-wide cable-stayed bridge will significantly reduce traffic congestion on National Road No. 1, sitting south of the Koh Norea development area, and enhance the local by facilitating the transport of goods and people. AKP
