Industry Minister Inspects Construction Progress of Cambodia’s Largest Water Treatment Plant

PHNOM PENH: H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, on May 15 led a delegation to inspect the Phase III expansion of the Bakheng Water Treatment Plant, the largest water treatment facility in Cambodia.

Once completed, the new phase will add 195,000 m³/day of production capacity, increasing the plant’s total capacity to 585,000 m³/day and boosting the overall production capacity of the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA) to 1.2 million m³/day.

The Phase III project has now reached approximately 72 percent completion and is expected to be fully operational by quarter 2 of 2027, further strengthening water supply in Phnom Penh and surrounding areas to support growing clean water demand, economic development, and improved quality of life for citizens.
