Inaugural Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2024 in Cambodia
PHNOM PENH: On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Her Excellency CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, presided over the inaugural Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2024 in Cambodia.
The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh and attracted a diverse group of participants, including representatives from government ministries, the U.S. Embassy, the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), and various stakeholders.
In her opening remarks, Minister Nimul commended the U.S. Embassy, Pannasastra University of Cambodia, and Impact Hub for their collaborative efforts in making the AWE program a reality. She emphasized the program’s significance in empowering women to succeed in business and innovation.
The Minister highlighted the Ministry of Commerce’s ongoing initiatives to promote women’s leadership in the business sector. These initiatives include fostering women’s involvement in e-commerce development, public procurement, and trade negotiations.
The Ministry has also established a Gender Task Force to advocate for gender-inclusive policies and support programs for women-owned businesses.
In conclusion, Minister Nimul encouraged the AWE participants to share their knowledge and experiences with other women entrepreneurs, build local and international networks, and embrace digital transformation. She recommended leveraging online resources like the DreamBuilder training modules to enhance their skills and adapt to the evolving business landscape.
