First Tourism Vocational School Gears Up for June 27 Soft Opening, Featuring Two Campuses

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia’s inaugural Tourism Vocational School is gearing up for its soft opening on June 27, 2025. The school’s campuses are now nearly fully equipped, ready to welcome its first students, AKP released today.

The upcoming launch and overall progress were key topics during a farewell meeting on June 17 between H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Jacques Pellet, the outgoing French Ambassador to Cambodia.

The Ministry of Tourism confirmed the school has two campuses: one in Phnom Penh (4,000 sqm with a two-story and a four-story building on Street 1003, Payap Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok) and another in Preah Sihanouk province (1,775 sqm with a four-story building on Sopheak Mongkul Street, Village 2, Sangkat 2, co-located with the Provincial Tourism Department).

The French Development Agency (AFD) is providing support and funding for the school, which will offer training in four crucial areas: Hotel and accommodation services, Food and beverage services, Travel services, and Tourism services. These programs are designed to meet both national and ASEAN standards, providing affordable, high-quality vocational training. The goal is to equip graduates with industry-relevant skills, thereby boosting Cambodia’s human resources in its expanding tourism sector.

Ambassador Pellet conveyed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his time in Cambodia, emphasizing the successful collaboration with Cambodian public and private institutions. He also reiterated France’s ongoing commitment to supporting Cambodia.

Minister Hout Hak, in turn, expressed his thanks to Ambassador Pellet for his significant contributions, particularly in establishing this groundbreaking tourism vocational school, and extended his best wishes for his future diplomatic endeavors.
