PHNOM PENH: Evercore, a leading global investment banking firm, has expressed its keen interest in strengthening its cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in the renewable energy, healthcare, and tourism sectors.
This interest was conveyed by Keith Magnus, Chairman of Evercore’s Asia business, during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace, according to an AKP press release today.
Mr. Magnus commended Cambodia’s significant progress across various sectors and expressed admiration for the Royal Government’s “Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1,” a crucial step towards achieving the ambitious Cambodia Vision 2050.
Prime Minister Hun Manet warmly welcomed Evercore’s interest and highlighted the nation’s commitment to sustainable energy development. He emphasized that Cambodia currently utilizes over 62% renewable energy sources and aims to increase this to 70% by 2030.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to bolster the healthcare sector through initiatives aimed at expanding and strengthening healthcare services nationwide.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also emphasized the Kingdom’s substantial potential in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, finance, and banking. He encouraged Evercore to engage in further discussions with relevant ministries and institutions to facilitate partnerships between the international private sector and Cambodia’s thriving business landscape.
This meeting signifies a positive step towards fostering stronger economic ties between Evercore and Cambodia, with the potential to drive significant growth and development within the country.
