PHNOM PENH: The friendship between Cambodia and China will continue to grow and China will remain a reliable partner of Cambodia.

The optimism was highlighted during the meeting here at the January 7 Palace on April 22 between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and visiting H.E. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Party Communist (CPC) Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

H.E. Wang Yi congratulated the CPP on its victory in the recent senate election and Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his election as the Senate President. He also spoke highly of the smooth transfer of power in Cambodia and reaffirmed the Chinese government's commitment to continue the good cooperation with new Royal Government of Cambodia.

The Chinese top diplomat informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen of his visit, especially of the outcome of his participation as co-chair in the 7th Meeting of Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen extended warm welcome to H.E. Wang Yi who visited Cambodia twice in less than a year, which clearly reflects the attention of the Chinese leaders to Cambodia.

The Cambodian senate president was convinced that H.E. Wang Yi's visit will further foster the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Besides, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the outcomes of the 7th Meeting of Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee and encouraged both sides to boost their trade ties and people-to-people exchange.
