China promises closer integration with Cambodia’s trade and investment

PHNOM PENH: has committed to deepening its cooperation with Cambodia in several areas, including the economy, , investment, tourism, culture, agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

This commitment was made during the 9th Global Economic Development Forum (GEDF) and Cambodia Business Leaders' Summit held at the Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh, where leaders from the Ministry of Commerce, representatives from relevant institutions, and many Cambodian-Chinese private sector participants were in attendance.

Gui Hangfeng, President of the Association for the Promotion of Global Economic Cooperation for Development, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia for co-organizing the event and emphasized the long-standing friendly and brotherly relationship between Cambodia and China.

He also pointed out that the two countries have laid a solid foundation for cooperation and the forum aimed to deepen understanding, exchange experiences, and find ways to better integrate with Cambodia's trade, investment, and industry development.

The trade volume between Cambodia and China is projected to reach US$11686 million in 2022, with Cambodia exporting over $1240 million to China and importing more than $10,445 million from China. With the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative approaching in 2023, the two nations are expected to strengthen and expand their cooperation in various fields.
