CDC grants investment licenses to five more private firms

PHNOM PEH: The Council for the Development of Cambodia () has given the green light to five new investment projects with a total capital of US$103.3 million.

According to the CDC's press release made public yesterday, the five new projects are located in the provinces of Kratie, Preah Vihear, Takeo and Kampong Speu, and Phnom Penh capital.

Eastern Rubber (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. will invest US$73.4 million to create a cattle farm in the Snuol district of Kratie province; and Rithy Rubber (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. some US$12 million in the establishment of the agro-industrial farm (rubber) and processing plant in Roveang district of Preah Vihear province, it pointed out.

Moreover, the source added, GE New Energy Technology (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. will inject US$7 million for the manufacturing of solar panels in Khan Kambol, Phnom Penh capital; Jingmaoguoji (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. US$5.7 million for a garment factory in Bati district of Takeo province; and Ebelno (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. US$5.2 million for an electronics assembly plant in Korng Pisey district, Kampong Speu province.

The newly approved projects are expected to generate more than 1,000 jobs for the locals, said the press release.
