Car Tyre Exports Hit US$500 Million in Jan-May Period

PHNOM PENH: ambodia recorded a significant surge in the export of car tyre in the first five months of 2025, as more tire manufacturers are continuing to invest and expand their operations in the country.

Cambodia exported car tyre worth US$560.7 million between January and May, an increase of nearly 80 percent from US$308 million in the previous year, said a Ministry of Commerce’s report.

The Secretary of State and Spokesperson at the ministry, H.E. Penn Sovicheat, attributed this sharp growth in car tyre exports to Cambodia’s successful export promotion efforts.

“Car tyre export is a new product of Cambodia. This reflects Cambodia’s product diversification for export. It also shows the Cambodian government’s efforts to promote and expand exports to regional and global markets,” he said.

The Royal Government is streamlining business procedures and enhancing the investment climate to attract investors, he said, adding that the government is facilitating exports and negotiating broader market access for Cambodian goods.

Currently, Cambodia has seven car tyre manufacturing projects providing a large market for Cambodian rubber covering more than 420,000 hectares, of which 330,000 hectares, equivalent to about 77 percent of the total rubber area, are mature enough to be tapped.

The country also exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.
