Cambodia’s export of gems and jewelry increases in last three years

PHNOM PENH: The export of gems and jewelry in has significantly increased in the past three years, said H.E. Ms. TAN Tepikanika, Under Secretary of State of Commerce, at the Second Press Conference of “The 15th Cambodia International Gems & Jewellery Fair 2024.”

Organized by the Cambodian Gems and Jewelry Traders Association (CGJTA) at Morgan Tower Koh Pich City on Jan. 22, the press conference was presided over by H.E. Dr. ING Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women's Affairs.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, H.E. Ms. TAN Tepikanika appreciated the efforts of CGJTA in diligently cooperating with the Ministry of Commerce and relevant ministries/institutions to improve and grow this sector continuously.

She added that the Ministry of Commerce has considered and paid much attention to supporting the business sector of Gems & Jewellery in Cambodia to establish additional progress and growth to increase consumers' trust in the quality of Cambodian products, especially create more opportunities for the gems and jewelry business owners to contribute to growing Cambodia's economy and competitiveness.

On the occasion, the H.E. Ms. TAN Tepikanika encouraged the association to partner with other foreign companies for market diversification and make use of the potential of Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Cambodia-Republic of Korea FTA, bilateral ASEAN+1 FTAs, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership () agreement to further boost gem and jewelry export and join the government's efforts in improving Cambodia's participation in the global supply chain.
