PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries announced on July 4 that Cambodia has officially received approval from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) to export durians directly to the Chinese market, following the signing of a protocol in April 2025.
The approval comes after the GACC completed an evaluation and approved the registration of 112 durian plantations and 30 packing facilities that comply with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), phytosanitary standards, and China’s food safety regulations, the ministry stated in its announcement.

In light of the development, the ministry urged all registered plantation owners and packing facilities to strictly adhere to the protocol’s conditions, especially by avoiding pest contamination, chemical residues, and the use of banned substances, to ensure the quality and sustainability of Cambodian durian exports.
The ministry also encouraged unregistered plantation owners and packing facilities interested in exporting durians to apply for registration with the General Directorate of Agriculture in order to undergo the necessary evaluation and approval process.
“This milestone is the result of strong cooperation between Cambodia and China in the field of agricultural trade,” the ministry noted.
China is one of the largest importers of Cambodian agricultural products. Fresh durian is the ninth Cambodian agricultural item to gain direct export access to the Chinese market, following rice, paddy, bananas, cassava chips, corn, longan, mangoes, and pepper.
