Cambodia to welcome US companies to explore investment opportunities

PHNOM PENH, — Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet said that a number of US companies will soon explore investment opportunities in Cambodia following his recent trip to the United States.

During my stay in the US, I met with different US companies, including Boeing, Abbott, Visa, Mastercard, Chevron, Pfizer, and others,” the said at the addressing a get-together with some 18,000 workers from Khan Meanchey and Khan Dangkor in Phnom Penh yesterday.

PM Hun Manet said that Pfizer will come to Cambodia and work with the Ministry of Health, while a group of other US companies will visit the Kingdom soon to explore the country's investment potential. He added that he met with a total of 58 US companies during his trip to the US in September.

Despite a 4.8% decline in exports from Cambodia to the US in the first eight months of 2023, PM Hun Manet remains optimistic about the economic relationship between the two countries.

Most of Cambodia's exports to the US market are clothing, footwear, travel bags, solar panels, bicycles, and agricultural products, while Cambodia imports autos, machinery, electrical equipment electronic components, and medical equipment from the US.

The Cambodian government is committed to creating a favorable investment environment for US companies, and PM Hun Manet's visit to the US is seen as a sign of the country's strong interest in attracting US investment.
