PHNOM PENH: The Royal Government of Cambodia has been modernizing its transportation infrastructure and developing a better logistics system to achieve its national development goals of becoming a high-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income by 2050.

On the evening of November 15th, CBRE hosted a workshop “Industry Revolution 2022” with participation from relevant public and private partners to review the progress of project implementation on improving Cambodia's logistics system.

The event was attended by H.E. Chhieng Pich, Director General of Logistics, Ministry of Public Work and Transportation, Mr. Lawrence Lennon, Managing Director of CBRE Cambodia, Mr. Paraj Kakkar, Project Consultant, CBRE Supply Chain Advisory and other VIP individual related private companies and media.

His Excellency Chheang Pich raised and shared very positive about the Vision and Goals to support the master plan and to help Cambodia seamlessly and comprehensively connect and intergrade into the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) as planned.

H.E. refer to the 5 goals below to boost the master plan:

1. To Transform the transport system into a comprehensive, high-quality climate change resilience infrastructure and sustainable national transport system by 2030

2. To enhance regional integration in the global supply chain through seamless transport and high connectivity in the Great Mekong subregion (GMS)

3. To enhance industrial competitiveness through strong production networks, optimum transport under efficient networks and hubs, and modal-mix
4. To enhance air transport of passenger and cargo efficiently to boost economic activities and increase the competitiveness of the civil aviation industry
5. To enhance competition in logistics through high-quality, diversified, and efficient logistic infrastructure and service to respond to various demands

The Royal Government is studying and planning 202 support projects in support of the aforementioned 05 action plans, 12 of which are for air transport development, 67 for waterway-maritime transport and port development, 11 for railway transport development, and 112 for Multi Growth Pole, Economic Corridor, National Integration, and Rural Socio-Economic development.

In response, Lawrence shared Cambodia's improvement in the logistics sector, expressing optimism that Cambodia is the most appealing market for jobs in the sector due to its location and human resources. He also stated that the Cambodian market is currently attracting investors primarily in the garment sector, followed by footwear, bags, bicycles, and rice.
