Cambodia meets with EIF and WTO on Trade Policy Framework

PHNOM PENH: 's Minister of Commerce, H.E. Cham Nimul, led a delegation that met with Dr. Ratnakar Adhikari, Executive Director of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), and Mr. Aik Hoe Lim, Director of and Environment at the World Trade Organization (WTO) yesterday at the headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.

The discussions centered on Cambodia's Trade Policy Framework Towards 2030, currently being formulated by the Ministry of Commerce. This framework aligns with the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1 and prepares Cambodia for graduating from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

Minister Nimul highlighted the Ministry's efforts to establish an Aid for Trade Committee. This committee will improve coordination with donors and development partners, maximizing resource utilization for implementing the Trade Policy Framework and promoting trade development.

Dr. Adhikari welcomed the Cambodian delegation and commended their successful implementation of EIF projects. He reaffirmed the EIF's support in formulating the Trade Policy Framework.

Mr. Lim noted the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the WTO Secretariat and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This MoU aims to drive inclusive and sustainable development through trade and economic integration, specifically in the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized the WTO's continued support for Cambodia's trade development goals.
