Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge to Begin Construction in 2025
PHNOM PENH: The Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project is set to break ground in June 2025, according to H.E. Phorn Rim, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The ministry is currently finalizing an environmental and social impact assessment to pave the way for construction.
Once completed, the two-cable stayed bridge will connect Phnom Penh to Arey Ksat, easing traffic congestion and boosting tourism in the capital. The 2,375-meter-long, 27.5-meter-wide bridge will link the Night Market to Arey Ksat City in Kandal Province.
The project, funded by the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea, will have a total contract cost of US$235 million and is expected to take approximately 60 months to complete. The bridge will be divided into two segments: from the Night Market to Chroy Changvar and from Chroy Changvar to Arey Ksat.
The Cambodian government and the Republic of Korea signed a loan agreement for the project in December 2022.
