PHNOM PENH: February 25, 2025 – A technical team led by H.E. So Vector, Secretary of State and Project Manager, and H.E. Soeung Sokong, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), inspected the site of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge project.
The inspection, conducted in conjunction with teams from Electricity of Cambodia (EDC) and the project’s technical consultant, Yooshin JV, focused on identifying existing underground power transmission networks that could be affected by the bridge’s construction.

EDC presented the layout of the power network in and around the project area to the MPWT and Yooshin JV, providing crucial information for project planning.
The area contains a medium voltage (MV) underground network, and on the eastern side, underground power lines and utility poles belonging to various service providers under the management of the Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC) may be impacted.

To ensure a comprehensive study and minimize disruptions, the MPWT has requested Yooshin JV to collaborate further with EDC, the EAC, and relevant electricity service providers. This collaboration will involve a detailed review of engineering and technical drawings related to networks near the bridge pillars. The goal is to prevent damage or accidental power line disconnections during construction.
The $235 million cable-stayed bridge project, funded by the Republic of Korea, is currently in the detailed study phase. The bridge will connect Night market, Chroy Changvar, and Areyksat.
The cable-stayed design features two bow-shaped main pillars, spanning 1,070 meters across the Tonle Sap River and 1,262 meters across the Mekong River. The bridge will be 26.5 meters wide, with connecting roads totaling 1,174.9 meters in length.
