Cambodia, Japan discuss bilateral trade and investment cooperation

PHNOM PENH: H.E. LIM Lork Piseth, Secretary of State at the Ministry Commerce, accompanied by H.E.TUY Ry, Ambassador of to Japan, has recently met with H.E. TAKAHASHI Shinichi, Vice Mayor of Sendai City, at Sendai City Hall, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan to discuss bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Sendai in the fields of the economy, trade, tourism, culture, education, and health.

On the occasion, the Sendai side informed H.E. LIM Lork Piseth about their intention to visit Cambodia soon to conduct a feasibility study on investment and trade opportunities in the country.

Regarding the education and health sector, the Governmental Administration of Sendai is considering offering scholarship to Cambodian students who wish to study ophthalmology and pursue a career in eye care.

On the same day, H.E. LIM Lork Piseth also held talks with H.E. Susumu Tai, Advisor to Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

The meeting aimed to discuss the working progress of the Honorary Consulate of Cambodia in Sendai city concerning bilateral trade and economic cooperation between both countries, the participation in the annual event Cambodia Festival in Tokyo, and the updated progress of the request through Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce to amend the Decision of the of Cambodia No 43 SSR on the Recognition of Members of the Representative Office of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) from “the Representative Office of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce in Sendai” to “the Representative Office of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce in Japan”.
