Cambodia earns $320 million from rubber export in nine months

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia exported 242,304 tonnes of dry rubber in the first nine months of 2023, earning $320 million, according to a report from the General Directorate of Rubber.

The rubber export saw a slight increase of 3.5 percent while revenue from the export decreased by 9.8 percent, read the report.

“A tonne of dry rubber cost $1,323 on average in the first three quarters of this year, about US$196 lower than that of the same period last year,” H.E. Him Oun, Director General of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.

The main export markets for Cambodia's rubber are Malaysia, , Singapore, and .

The Kingdom planted rubber trees on a total area of 404,578 hectares, of which 315,332, or 78 percent, are old enough to be tapped, the report pointed out.
