Cambodia and China-Malaysia Chamber Forge Alliance to Boost Trade and Investment

PHNOM PENH: On Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025, witnessed a significant meeting between representatives of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the China-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Oknha Sok Piseth, Vice President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC), representing Neak Oknha Kith Meng, the President of the CCC and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia, in welcoming a delegation from the China-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This delegation was headed by Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, the President of the China-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who is currently undertaking a business visit to Cambodia.

The central objective of this meeting was to enhance the existing relationship between the two prominent institutions and pinpoint crucial areas for collaborative endeavors in the future. Marking this occasion, both chambers of commerce formalized their commitment by signing a memorandum of understanding. This agreement establishes a structural foundation aimed at fostering economic ties, encouraging trade and investment activities, and streamlining cooperation among the business sectors of both Cambodia and Malaysia.

During the discussions, Oknha Sok Piseth, the Vice President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, underscored the robust economic partnership between Cambodia and Malaysia. He highlighted the substantial volume of trade and the significant Malaysian investments present in key sectors within Cambodia. Furthermore, Oknha Sok Piseth emphasized Cambodia’s ongoing economic expansion, which is fueled by its youthful and dynamic workforce, a favorable investment environment, and strategic governmental policies geared towards achieving high-income status by the year 2050.

In response, Datuk Ng Yih Pyng, the President of the China-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, conveyed his optimistic outlook regarding this collaboration. He stated that the primary aim of the delegation’s visit was to investigate potential avenues for cooperation and to promote upcoming business events within the ASEAN region. These events include the 14th ACCCIM Young Entrepreneurs Conference, the ASEAN AI Business Summit, and the ASEAN China Business Leaders Conference 2025.

The talks concluded on a positive note, characterized by a spirit of fraternity. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions and further explored the trade and investment landscapes of their respective nations. The anticipated cooperation between the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and the China-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds the promise of generating new opportunities for trade and investment, thereby contributing to the economic advancement of both countries and nurturing stronger bonds within their respective business communities.
