Angkor Archaeological Park Attracts Over 474,000 Foreign Tourists in First Four Months

PHNOM PENH: Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia’s premier tourist destination, welcomed 474,810 foreign visitors during the first four months of 2025—a year-on-year increase of 12.68 percent, according to a report released on May 1 by Angkor Enterprise, the agency responsible for managing entrance pass sales.

Revenue from ticket sales during this period totaled US$22.2 million, an 11.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. In April alone, the park received 76,279 international tourists, generating US$3.49 million in income.

The rising number of foreign visitors to the renowned Angkor temple complex reflects a strong recovery in Cambodia’s tourism sector, said H.E. Ms. Hun Dany, Secretary of State and Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Tourism.

“The increase in foreign tourists is a positive outcome of close cooperation between the the Royal Government and private sector in promoting the country’s tourism potential,” she stated.

To improve the experience for international travellers, the Royal Government implemented a reformed ticketing and inspection system in January 2025. The new system offers more flexible ticket purchase options for tourists and tour operators, simplifying access to the ancient site.

Located in northwestern Siem Reap province, the 401-square-kilometre Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples constructed between the 9th and 13th centuries.

The park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992 and remains Cambodia’s most visited tourist attraction.

In 2024, Angkor Archaeological Park attracted 1.02 million international tourists, generating US$47.8 million in ticket sales, according to Angkor Enterprise.
