PHNOM PENH: Investors will be interested in areas along some national roads connecting Kampot to Phnom Penh and the provinces, as those national roads will be the main routes for transporting goods in and out of ports during the center project. Logistics and the multi-purpose port have been completed.

On May 6, Pov Ear Kong, CEO of Advance Real Estate, told PropertArea over the phone that the development of a multi-purpose logistics center and port in Kampot province was completed and ready for construction. Because construction has only recently begun, the news has already reached some investors.

“Once built and operational, the port will be an important port for the transportation of goods into and out of Cambodia, and it will continue to be distributed to provinces throughout Cambodia,” he said. The main roads for transportation to and from the port to the provinces will be National Roads No. 2, No. 3, and No. 41.

He added that while it is not particularly interesting right now, it will be of interest to investors in the future as a location for the construction of factories, businesses, and warehouses.

H.E. Chea Sophara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, also spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for Kampot province’s logistics center and multi-purpose port. Cambodia will be able to accommodate ships carrying up to 100,000 tons and will be outfitted with modern equipment to facilitate small and large containers.

Simultaneously, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, confirmed that once the port is completed, National Roads 3, 41, 4, and 2 will be the primary routes for traffic from the port to the provinces and from the provinces to the deep-sea port in this province.

PHNOM PENH: The logistics center and multi-purpose port, which began construction in Kampot province on May 5, 2022, will be a major export, import, and export port in the country, facilitating the flow of goods throughout Cambodia.

H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, stated at the groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-purpose port investment project that the location of the multi-purpose port and logistics center project in Kampot province provides an advantageous connection between Phnom Penh’s water, land, and rail transportation systems and provinces via National Road No. 3, National Road No. 41, Phnom Penh Expressway, Sihanoukville, National Road No. 48, and connecting the southern railway to the country’s north.

He went on to say that the investment project has a three-phase development plan with a total investment capital of more than 1.5 billion US dollars, with the first phase costing more than 200 million US dollars.

Container depots, special economic zones, free trade zones, logistics centers, warehouses of all types, customs warehouses, manufacturing and distribution plants, refineries and fuel centers, residential areas, and ports that connect port transportation and the Phnom Penh Autonomous Region will all be included in the project.

His Excellency also mentioned the following:

“This multi-purpose port has a water depth of approximately 15 meters and can accommodate ships weighing up to 100,000 tons.” The port also has a large capacity, with a capacity of 300,000 TEUs by 2025 and 600,000 TEUs by 2030. The Logistics Center and Multi-Purpose Port investment project in Kampot will be another deep-sea port in Cambodia and an international modern in the ASEAN region. “

“This port will help promote the successful development of Sihanoukville into a multi-purpose special economic zone by supplementing the lack of activities at Sihanoukville Deep Sea Port and Phnom Penh Autonomous Port.”

His Excellency Chea Sophara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, stated that this is another major project for Cambodia, as well as a new port in addition to those in Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh. He went on to say that the port will serve as a distribution and export hub for the region.

It is also one of Cambodia’s largest storage facilities for solid and liquid goods, and it can facilitate trade, reduce freight costs, and facilitate traffic along National Road No. 4 by switching to transport on National Road Nos. 3, 41, and so on.
