3 new major international airports to open soon in 2022 and 2023

PHNOM PENH: Three new major international airports are set to reopen after Cambodia’s aviation sector is fully operational, primarily in 2022 and 2023, according to a senior official.

According to Dr. Mao Havannal, Minister in Charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, at the Cambodia Air Traffic Service (CATS) Awareness Awareness Workshop, On June 2, 2022,

Dr. Mao Havannal, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, stated that due to the unprecedented global COVID epidemic, Cambodia’s civil aviation sector will continue to grow until 2020.

However, he claimed that the aviation sector is now resuming, with three new major international airports set to open for reception services this year and next.

“As a result, the aviation industry requires new technologies and concepts powered by high-quality aviation data to meet increased traffic demand while maintaining more secure air operations.”

The Minister emphasized that damaged or incorrect aviation data used on paper could jeopardize air traffic safety. As a result, we must convert digital flight information data on paper into digital aviation information data. Each country’s publication of aviation information with aviation data and precise information is essential for air navigation.

He emphasized the importance of not overlooking and prioritizing the main functions of the transition from Aeronautical Information Service-AIS to Aeronautical Information Management-AIM. Changes and requirements for AIM-style aviation information management are also guided and outlined in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP) and the ASEAN Air Navigation Plan.
