PHNOM PENH: Currently, the number of foreign hotel brands in Cambodia, particularly in Phnom Penh, is gradually increasing.

Frasers Hospitality, a subsidiary of Singapore-listed Frasers Property, has announced plans to open three properties in Phnom Penh, the first of which would open in October 2022.

“Phnom Penh has transformed into a dynamic and active city over the previous decade,” said Tonya Khong, senior vice president of Frasers Hospitality in the Asia-Pacific region.

“With a young but promising economy and recovery efforts from COVID-19, we are delighted to present our Frasers hospitality brand to satisfy the different market demands and services with excellent experience,” she added.

The business has revealed plans for three properties: the first is an 88-room Capri by Fraser Hotel in Phnom Penh, which will open in October 2022. Fraser’s second project, with 78 rooms and a completion date of 2024, is approximately five minutes from the center of Phnom Penh.

A Frasers Hospitality spokesman stated in February 2022 that the two facilities will feature hotel rooms, flats, studios, and separate rooms, with an emphasis on transient investors in Cambodia.

The third property, Fraser Residence Sen Sok, has 200 rooms and is located in the Sen Sok area. The project is expected to be completed in 2026. The project focuses on a range of structures that provide services to foreigners in temporary housing, including a retail center, a hospital, and an office complex.

According to Ms. Tonya Khong, the first project is projected to succeed due to regional events such as the 2023 SEA Games and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).

Cambodia’s capital and most populated city is Phnom Penh. It has served as the country’s capital since the French protectorate of Cambodia, and it has developed to become the country’s commercial, industrial, and cultural center.

Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s economic center, accounting for a significant percentage of the Cambodian economy. In recent years, double-digit economic growth rates have spurred an economic boom in Phnom Penh, with new hotels, restaurants, schools, pubs, high rises, and residential complexes popping up around the city.
