Vietnam kicks off major infrastructure projects this year

ASIA: Despite the global economic crisis, Vietnam has experienced the region’s strongest economic growth in more than two years. The situation has improved, particularly since the post-Covid period, when the country’s economy was fully reopened. The real estate market has also begun to recover.

Many significant projects are currently underway, and Vietnam will have many more mega infrastructure projects in 2023 according to the Vietnam Net including:

Ring Road 4 in Hanoi 

Ring Road 4 project is 112.8km long, divided into 7 component projects, passing through Hanoi, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh, and using more than 1,300 hectares of land. The total investment capital of this road is VND85,8 trillion, including VND41.86 trillion from the state budget. The project will be kicked off in June 2023, is scheduled for completion in 2026, and will be put it into operation in 2027.

Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City

The 76km road will be built with a total capital of more than VND75 trillion, divided into 8 component projects, in the form of public investment. The project is scheduled for commence June 2023, basically completed in 2025, and put into operation in 2026. This is considered a strategic road, which will create an urban and industrial corridor for the entire southern key economic region.

Hoa Binh – Moc Chau Expressway (Hoa Binh segment)

This 34km road will run through the northern province of Hoa Binh. The project consists of 2 phases and will be carried out from 2022-2025. Total investment in phase 1 is about VND9.777 trillion.

Hoa Binh – Moc Chau Expressway (Son La segment)

This section, which runs through the nothern province of Son La province, has a total length of 31.6km. The total investment in this project is about VND3.79 trillion, including about VND1.8 trillion from the central budget and about VND1.99 trillion from the local budget.

Dong Dang – Tra Linh Expressway

This 121km is invested in the form of public – private partnership (PPP), with a total adjusted capital of about VND22,691 billion, including VND13,174 billion for phase 1 (2020-2025) and VND9,516 billion for phase 2 (after 2025). The operation and payback period is about 23 years (2026-2049). The road includes 52km running through the northern province of Lang Son and about 63km through Cao Bang province.

Hoa Lien – Tuy Loan Expressway

This road is 11.5km long, to be built with a total capital of VND2,113 billion. The construction is scheduled for completion by 2025. This is part of the North – South Expressway, the eastern part (Da Nang City).

Huu Nghi – Chi Lang Expressway

The Huu Nghi – Chi Lang expressway project in the northern province of Lang Son has a total length of about 60.18km, including 2 sections: a 43km highway from Huu Nghi border gate to Chi Lang and a 17.18km section connecting Huu Nghi – Chi Lang expressway to Tan Thanh and Coc Nam border gates. The total investment of this project is over VND10,471 billion VND, from various sources like the state budget capital, equity, loan capital and other sources.

An Huu – Cao Lanh Expressway

The 27.43km road, running through the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap and Tien Giang, will be built at the cost of about VND5,886 billion from the state budget. The construction will be from now until 2027.

Dau Giay – Tan Phu Expressway

The 60.1 km Dau Giay – Tan Phu expressway in the southern province of Dong Nai will be built in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BOT contract. Preliminary total investment of the project is more than VND8,365 billion, being implemented until 2025.

Tan Phu – Bao Loc Expressway

The Tan Phu – Bao Loc expressway, running through Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces, is about 66km long, invested in the form of PPP with a total investment of VND17.2 trillion. The road is scheduled for completion and being put into operation in 2026.

Bao Loc – Lien Khuong Expressway

Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong has a total length of nearly 74km, and a total capital of about VND19,521 billion, including VND7,761 billion from the state budget.

Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang Expressway

This expressway will run through the four Mekong Delta provinces of An Giang (56.74km), Can Tho (37.77km), Hau Giang (37.02km) and Soc Trang (56.67km). The total investment in this project is over VND47 trillion. It is scheduled for completion in 2027.
