PHNOM PENH: On December 25, 2024, a high-level forum convened in Phnom Penh to strengthen trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Cambodia. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia, and the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Federation, welcomed His Excellency Chea Vuthy, SSecretary General of the CDC’s Cambodian Investment Board (CIB), as the keynote speaker.
The forum aimed to facilitate connections between Cambodian and Vietnamese businesses, providing a platform for discussions on investment opportunities and cross-border trade cooperation, with a particular focus on the digital economy.
In his address, H.E. Chea Vuthy emphasized the crucial role of e-commerce in today’s digital age, highlighting its potential to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and expand market reach.
He also encouraged Vietnamese investors to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in sectors with high growth potential such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.
The forum concluded with the signing of a rice supply agreement between Kon Khmer Co., Ltd. and several Vietnamese companies operating in Cambodia.
Vietnam currently ranks third among foreign investors in Cambodia, with a total investment of approximately US$557 million in the first 11 months of 2024.
