PHNOM PENH: The General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance has collected some US$106 million from unpaid vehicle taxes, after over a year of the campaign.
The figure was shared by H.E. Kun Nhim, Director General of GDCE, in a press conference held here on Jan 12.
As of the end of 2022, some 18,000 unpaid vehicles have paid taxes, said the director general, underlining that the GDCE will start cracking down on illegally imported vehicles and tax-evaded vehicles without any exception.
He attributed the good result of tax collection on tax-evaded vehicles to the close cooperation between GDCE and relevant authorities.
“The campaign was ended with success, thanks to the cooperation with all relevant parties in more than a year of the campaign,” he said, reaffirming the GDCE’s commitment to tighten the crackdown and prevention of illegally imported vehicles.
