Two hydropower projects approved by CDC

PHNOM PENH: Two hydropower projects worth in total of $447.5 million in Koh Kong province have been approved by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).

According to the council’s news release issued on Tuesday, the two mega projects are Stung Russey Chrum Kandal hydropower project of 70 megawatts in Mondul Seima district and Veal Thmar Kambot hydropower project of 100 megawatts in Thmar Baing district.

To be invested by Khmer Electrical Power Co., Ltd., the newly approved projects will be developed in the form of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) and generate 230 jobs for the locals.

Besides, the CDC gave the green light to six other investment projects with a total capital of more than $30 million in the provinces of Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu, and Phnom Penh capital, creating thousands of job opportunities.
